Daniel DeKoter Joined Corcoran, Skiver And Zito Law Firm In 1980

Daniel DeKoter is a well-qualified attorney who has been employed at Sibley, Iowa based DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C. and its predecessor firms since 1980. Founded in 1936, the firm was originally known as Corcoran, Skiver and Zito law firm. It strives to help people meet their legal needs by providing them with reliable legal services that recognize the firm’s and the client’s commitment to fairness and justice. A Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rated lawyer, Dan is a general practitioner and has years of experience and knowledge in civil litigation including personal injury, product liability, and insurance defense. He is a past member of the Sibley Library Board, Iowa State Bar Association Legal Forms Committee (chair), Northwest Iowa Humane Society (president), as well as several church boards. Daniel DeKoter received his Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and English in 1977, from Grand Rapids, Michigan based Calvin College. Prior to this, he studied at Maurice-Orange City High School until 1973. Dan was a National Merit Finalist in high school and was also awarded the William Randolph Hearst Foundation Senate Youth Program scholarship. In 1977, Dan went to the University of Iowa Law School, and in 1980, he graduated in the top 20% of his law school class. He passed the Iowa bar examination in June of 1980 and thereafter joined the Corcoran, Skiver and Zito law firm in Sibley, Iowa. In addition to helping people meet their legal needs, Daniel DeKoter is dedicated to working for the welfare of others. In order to promote reading, he contributes about $3,000 on an annual basis to area schools and libraries such as the Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District; the Sibley Public Library; the Ocheyedan Public Library; the Ashton Public Library; the Melvin Public Library; the Sanborn Public Library; and the George Public Library. Additionally, Dan and his partners, Michael E. Thole and Harold D. Dawson, offer free legal services to charitable institutions. He is an avid traveler and enjoys sightseeing.
