Daniel DeKoter Has Been Serving DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C., Since 1980

Daniel DeKoter, presently serving on the Village Northwest Unlimited Board and East Oaks Estates Property Owners Association, is a Martindale-Hubbell “AV” rated lawyer. He has been serving Sibley, Iowa based DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C., since 1980. Formerly known as Corcoran, Skiver and Zito law firm, DeKoter, Thole & Dawson, P.L.C. was founded in 1936. The firm delivers dependable legal services that recognize the firm’s and the client’s commitment to fairness and justice. Dan has years of experience in civil litigation including personal injury, insurance defense, business disputes; business and employment law; and estate planning and administration. Daniel DeKoter is a past member of the Sibley Library Board, Sibley Kiwanis, Iowa State Bar Association Legal Forms Committee (chair), Northwest Iowa Humane Society (president), as well as several church boards. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and English, in 1977, from Grand Rapids, Michigan based Calvin College. Prior to graduating, he attended the Maurice-Orange City High School until 1973, and was a National Merit Finalist. In addition to this, he was also conferred the William Randolph Hearst Foundation Senate Youth Program scholarship. He began attending the University of Iowa Law School in 1977, and graduated in the top 20% of his law school class. In June 1980, he also passed the Iowa bar examination and then joined the Corcoran, Skiver and Zito law firm in Sibley, Iowa. Apart from serving his clients, Daniel DeKoter also aims at working for the welfare of the society. He annually contributes about $3,000 to promote reading. He donates to the Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District; the Sibley Public Library; the Ocheyedan Public Library; the Ashton Public Library; the Melvin Public Library; the Sanborn Public Library; and the George Public Library. Along with partners, Michael E. Thole and Harold D. Dawson, Dan provides free legal services to charitable institutions.
